Our History
Established in 1938, the Mount Vernon~Belvedere Association (MVBA) was formed to aide in the preservation and restoration of the greater Mount Vernon neighborhood. The association works hard to disseminate information to residents and businesses about issues that affect the neighborhood, and to inform visitors of the many exciting activities that take place in all parts of the community.
The Mount Vernon~Belvedere Association is comprised of several smaller areas that each have distinctive characteristics and personality. The parks at Mount Vernon Place, the area around the historic Belvedere Hotel, the Read Street shopping corridor, small streets of Tyson and Hamilton, and the large institutions of the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University and the University of Baltimore provide a thriving district of residents, businesses, and tourism.
